After almost three weeks at “Captain Hunter Hall” I’ve moved a little further up the east coast to Newcastle. The initial idea was always to stay at one place as long as I like it and to move on when it’s enough. In this case I still could have stayed longer but for some reason I had the feeling I was running out of time (which is ridiculous since my visa here expires not before December). But for the three months in between my sisters (Nadi is coming beginning of April) I had the idea to finish the book I started writing two years ago and take care of my second web project where I blog about usability and conversion optimizations. Since we all have 24 hours a day and its being just a matter of priorities how we use them, it was truly my fault that I hadn’t have done as much as I wanted to. But between working in the mornings, enjoying myself in the sun or at the beach in the afternoon and trying not to be completely antisocial in the evenings there was not much time left (which is just a lame excuse, I know). So I had to make the decision between staying or focusing on the things I wanted to accomplish. And so I moved, even if I really enjoyed the last couple of weeks.
As my first helpx experience working for Rob and Frances was probably the best thing that could have happened to me. I helped building a tinder deck, learned how to make decent knots and ripped things out of the wall or the bush (not with my bear hands but with a truck which was even cooler). Frances and Rob are probably by far the kindest and nicest people ever. Always very grateful even for the little things we’ve done for them and even if we already got something in return (food and accommodation). So I definitely intent to come back at some point during my stay here in Australia.
